Key West a gorgeous backdrop for destination weddings
I love doing wedding shoots in Key West. And because my husband and I have a place to stay on the island, I can offer brides and grooms a lot of flexibility in arranging a photo shoot for their wedding day.
So far, the weddings I’ve done have not been for Key West natives but couples from other parts of the country, who usually find my photography business listed on www.theknot.com.
It goes without saying that Key West’s white sandy beaches and crystal blue water provide a stunning backdrop for weddings. But the island also provides other options for a picture-perfect ceremony and reception.
I’ve done photo shoots of weddings on boats, at hotels, and in historic buildings, including the home of famous writer Ernest Hemingway. That is a favorite location of mine because of its beautiful architecture and pristine gardens.
There are also plenty of options for casual weddings, which tend to be more common in Key West because of its laid-back, Caribbean-like atmosphere. The beach is ideal for a dressed-down ceremony, and there are a host of hotels, restaurants, and nightspots that provide venues for a casual reception.
Because wedding guests will often make a vacation out of their trip to Key West, some brides and grooms will 
incorporate a casual, “touristy” event into their wedding. For instance, one time I took photos of guests having a ball as they toured Key West in a trolley car.
